Workshop Description:

In this workshop participants will have an opportunity understand how we create a kind of "blueprint" or map of reality for each experience we have in life — love, success, exercise, respect, freedom, even rain. We’ll examine, in through a step-by-step process, how we create these blueprints at an early age. Using real life examples, well look at how they can give form to long term, self-defeating patterns in our lives that have no-win choices built into them, which become central to how we see and experience our relationships and the world.

I believe that while we create such blueprints on a personal level to shape how we experience reality as a unique individual, we also create group blueprints — for couples, families, work teams, organizations, and any group that has an "identity" as a sub-culture. And we create blueprints for larger groups, for religions, races, and nations, as well as for humanity at a global level. In fact, the entire War Model for communication that I outline in Taking the War Out of Our Words is my detailed description of a "global blueprint" that I believe has been adopted by most of humanity, with devastating consequences. In true cyclical fashion, this global blueprint is a force that influences our own personal blueprints.

Each person will have opportunity to work on a significant childhood blueprint that influences her/his life. This workshop can help you understand yourself at a core level, so you can be much more proactive and successful in changing your life in meaningful ways. Since every blueprint is a map for how we will experience significant pieces of our lives, understanding any of the blueprints you have created can become a new blueprint — one for how you can change core elements in what you believe, feel, think, and do, giving you the power to make quantum changes in how you experience life.
In addition, you will learn how to listen to others at a whole new level, by listening for the blueprint hidden within the “story-line” of what another person is saying. This skill can help us see another person with clearer sight and enhances our ability to achieve greater understanding and communicate with far greater effectiveness, across line of difference, such as personality, gender, race, and age.

Often when I ask questions, people who are new to the PNDC communication process ask me, "How did you come up with that question?" After taking a Blueprints workshop, they say, "Now I know how you think of those questions." Understanding how our reality is created by these invisible, but very precise blueprints gives us a whole new world of options for living empowered, compassionate lives.
