Training Applications for Social Activist Organizations
We offer workshop for people in organizations seeking to achieve social
change at a local, national, or international level. The following are
examples of how we can apply Powerful Non-Defensive Communication (PNDC)
skills to the work of people seeking to societal change:
- Mobilizing communities to bring diverse groups together to engage
in creative problem solving
- Examining the relationship of ideology to actual functioning when
dealing with diversity and other vital issues within the organization
- Dealing with frustration and burnout among the leadership and members
of the organization or group
- Moving beyond argumentative, defensive communication patterns within
the organization and creating respectful, yet efficient dialogue
- Learning to give direct and supportive feedback to each other as
on important issues regarding each person's role
- Creating a powerful, inspirational approach to interacting with the
media
- Responding with sincere, thought-provoking questions when others
challenge or attack the ideas and goals of the organization
- Speaking with clarity, honesty, and compassion so that representatives
of your organization are respected as people who possess wisdom, modeling
the group's message in a powerful way
- Working to achieve social change without getting caught in power
struggles with those who oppose those changes
- Avoiding the pitfall of competing with other organizations that are
also seeking social change, but are working on a different issues
- Using a non-defensive process to help people with diverse agendas
move through intense conflict without becoming polarized
