Professional Mediations

"As you know, we have tried a number of different programs to resolve the extensive inter-personal conflicts that kept arising in our office, including having people come in from the national headquarters to mediate. When you saw what was needed you worked literally around the clock. Your intervention has provided a much needed breakthrough and has given the staff the tools they need to make changes. It is the first that has made a real difference in the atmosphere of our office." Mediation Client

Sharon Ellison, individually provides mediation for people who need an outside, neutral party to assist in resolving a workplace conflict. In some cases, it involves issues where two or more people have an ongoing conflict that causes stress for others in the organization as well. In other cases, it may be an isolated incident that is serious enough to cause a breakdown in an essential working relationship. It might also involve poor working relationships between a manager and his or her team. In other cases, it may involve entire groups of people who are in conflict, such as two teams or employees that belong to groups with different educational or cultural backgrounds.

Sharon's approach to mediation is to draw out people's assumptions and identify the core issues that lie under the tip of the iceberg. She helps each person in the mediation identify what holds her/him in the power struggle, preventing resolution. She brings her ability to identify relationship patterns to the mediation and helps each person see how their own behavior has contributed to the escalation of the conflict. She then works with the clients to shift to a non-defensive approach that can be used to achieve the best outcome possible for all parties.

In offering mediations, Sharon often works in collaboration with other PNDC trainers. For example, when more than one mediator is called for, Sharon will work with Mady Shumofsky, an award winning mediator, and/or Emily Doskow, an attorney who specializes in mediations. When specific issues are involved, such as race or religion, others who have expertise in those areas can be called in.
