Specialized Training on Focus Topics

We offer specialized topics on issues we find to be common to a variety of workplace settings. Any of these topics may be brought in as sub-sets of the General Training Categories. Under management training, for example, the focus topic of "how to avoid being caught in the middle in other people's conflicts" could be applied to two common issues faced by middle managers: dealing with conflicts between co-workers they supervise, or dealing with conflicts between higher-level managers and employees they supervise.

We can also work with you on any "Focus Topic" you want to create to use in conjunction with general training.

Suggested Focus Topics

  • Confronting "desk rage": making the office a safe place

  • Dealing with "negative people" to diminish their effect on office morale

  • Empowering employees so they don't react defensively toward management as "authority (parent) figures"

  • Developing accountability: encouraging people to stop passing blame

  • Using constructive methods for eliminating office gossip

  • Identifying and responding to defensive strategies that block productivity

  • Understanding the impact that "social rank" has on workplace relationships

  • Expressing emotions in a constructive manner- a key to healthy professional relationships

  • Confronting people who make offensive remarks or behave inappropriately in group settings-without creating unnecessary conflict

  • Using email effectively, with respect and clarity

  • Avoiding being "caught in the middle" in other people's conflicts

  • Dealing with denial and lies without getting into power struggles

  • Learning to give genuine apologies when appropriate-a building block in office relationships
